Once upon a time there was a little girl who loved to dress up in her Polish national costume.

It had:

• a white cotton broderie anglaise blouse with gathered sleeves and ric-rac braid

• a black velvet waistcoat with multi-coloured floral embroidery, sequins, beads, braids, buttons, silk ribbon and ties, shells, flowers, and tiny mirrors

• a dirndl skirt made from ribbons of silk, satin, velvet, lace, organza, over layers of net
